CulturalDC Announces New Executive Director Juanita Hardy
WASHINGTON, DC –- CulturalDC, the region’s leader in creating arts space and presenting emerging contemporary art, announced today that Juanita Hardy will assume the role of Executive Director.
Hardy comes to CulturalDC with over 38 years of business experience and a passion for art and culture. For the past eight years, Hardy has worked as the Managing Principal of Tiger Management Consulting Group where she helped organizations build capacity. In 2000, Hardy co-founded the Millennium Arts Salon, a nonprofit arts organization that advances cultural literacy through arts and cultural programming. Hardy also worked as an executive with IBM for over 30 years.
“Juanita’s business and management experience will lead CulturalDC to the next level in fulfilling our mission to create opportunities for artists and arts organizations,” said Anita Ayerbe, CulturalDC’s Board President. “Juanita brings a unique combination of business acumen, art experience and leadership skills,” Ayerbe continued.
In joining the team, Juanita stated, “I am delighted to join CulturalDC. I look forward to leading the organization into its fifteenth year of serving the DC arts community and to building on a strong base, leveraging my organizational development and management skills to further strengthen and propel the organization.”
After founding Executive Director Anne Corbett left in June 2012, Travis Bowerman served the organization as the Interim Executive Director. Bowerman will resume his previous role as CulturalDC’s Deputy Director.
Juanita begins work with CulturalDC this month where she will work with the board and staff to establish strategic priorities and mobilize resources to execute on these priorities.
