Caitlin Caplinger

External Engagement Associate

Caitlin joined CulturalDC in December 2016 as the Development Fellow and was promoted to External Engagement Associate in 2017 . Caitlin helped CulturalDC achieve success with the coordination of VISIONDC Summit.

Her personal and professional obsession lies in the world of staging site-specific/immersive/environmental theatre. Notable productions include: I’m On A Terrace, devised piece dedicated to the victims of the November attacks on Paris; 1984 by: George Orwell; Two Zombies Walk Into a Bar by: Amanda Quain, Nu Sass Productions; You Have to Go Back Out There, Kennedy Center’s Annual Page-to-Stage Festival; and Gozzi’s The Raven. Caplinger has presented research delving into the role of an arts administrator in more experimental works, and immersive theatre’s ability to alter neurological functions.

Caitlin is an avid writer, and channels that into sketch-writing, plays, and stand-up comedy. You might just see her at an open mic around the District!

Caplinger graduated in May 2016 from Christopher Newport University with degrees in Theatre (Arts Administration), and Leadership. She hopes to attend graduate school for Masters in Arts & Public Policy, and Directing. Someday in the distant future she will open up her own theatre company where people flail about in glow-in-the-dark paint mumbling Ye Olde English accompanied by background cat mewls, and she can call it ‘Art’.
