CulturalDC creates professional development opportunities through a workshop series and through our visual arts, performing arts and residency programs. Workshops range from an annual tax workshop for artists to panel discussions and workshops geared to coach artists through auditions, social media strategy and writing artist statements. Artists in our visual and performing arts programs are paired with mentors on our advisory panels and receive artistic and public relations support from our staff. Program participants are also encouraged to participate in Flash Forums, a program designed to help develop and incubate upcoming projects, and to create public programming and artist talks.
CulturalDC provides technical assistance to artist groups, arts-related businesses and cultural organizations to help in every stage of the facilities planning process. Our staff works with these clients to define their facilities needs in conjunction with their artistic programs and available resources. Our assistance can include: assessing whether your facilities plan supports your mission and goals; defining the physical program best suited for your organization’s programs and activities; or evaluating the opportunities for space.
Facilities Planning Process
The first step is to submit a facilities questionnaire. Once we receive a completed questionnaire that describes the organization’s space needs, we’ll schedule a meeting to get better acquainted and discuss the role CulturalDC can play in finding space solutions right for your organization.
All arts entities who have submitted space needs information are eligible to be referred to landlords, developers etc. seeking arts tenants. We can also make referrals to other arts consultants for board development, fundraising and capital campaign assistance.
