Wit’s End Puppets mixes puppets and actors for Malevolent Creatures, a work- in-progress supported by CulturalDC. Held at Source Theatre for one night only, the experimental puppet theatre tells a harrowing story of domestic violence using the framework of the selkie story from Celtic folklore.
Written by Nina Budabin McQuown and Annalisa Dias and directed by Genna Beth Davidson, Malevolent Creatures depicts a magical seal-woman who marries a fisherman. Their relationship soon takes a darker turn with dangerous consequences for both her and their daughter.
The cast includes Amy Kellett, Cecilia Cackley, Alison Daniels, Seth Langer, Angela Lambert and Nina Budabin McQuown.
Wit's End Puppets is an experimental puppet theater in the Washington, DC metro area, producing original work for adventurous audiences, collaborating with local partners to bring quality puppetry into contemporary performance and educating both children and adults about the craft of puppetry.
