CulturalDC continues to bring vibrant performing and visual art to the front steps of DC neighborhoods with the launch of SPACE4: Arts
By outfitting a portable shipping container as a multi-functional space for art and by partnering with unconventional venues across the city, SPACE4: Arts ensures that communities experience and engage in groundbreaking works. This initiative is the evolution of the company’s critically acclaimed Flashpoint Gallery and Mead Theatre Lab Programs, which have become hallmarks of CulturalDC’s brand over the last 18 years.
SPACE4: Visual Arts continues CulturalDC’s strong history of presenting cutting-edge artwork and emerging artists through a mobile art gallery. Selected artists are invited to transform a fully-outfitted 40ft shipping container into an immersive environment. The mobile art gallery will move across the District for the 2017-2018 season, with a new exhibit and free public programming in every neighborhood it visits.
SPACE4: Performing Arts expands CulturalDC’s unique mission to identify, mentor, and present emerging artists and arts organizations in the fields of theatre, music, dance, film, and interdisciplinary work. By partnering with unexpected venues across the city, including Blind Whino SW Arts Club and Dupont Underground, CulturalDC will connect with DC residents through dynamic, innovative performance experiences.
